The NHIA has added the "Easy Installments for NHI Premiums" function to the NHI App in January 2022, making it easier for people to apply for an installment plan for NHI premiums online instead of applying for installments in person during the pandemic period. Any insured with an NHI premium of NT$2,000 or more may open the "E-Counter/Personal Inquiry and Settings/Apply for Easy Installment Plan for NHI Premiums" function of the APP to apply for installments whenever needed. A minimum payment of NT$826 can be made each month (each installment) for at most 12 installments, reducing the burden of the insured, and saving time and cost of over-the-counter applications.

          If the overdue payment has been under the administrative execution and there are more than 2 records of default payment of installments in the past 2 years, or the amount of default is rather large, the insured need to apply at the counter if they want another installment plan.
