On September 7, the NHIA Taipei Division invited public, private, and civilian organizations from Datong Township and Nanao Township of Yilan County to the "Virtual NHI Card Education Event”at Saint Mary's Hospital Luodong. Over a hundred people participated and the interactions on the day were very enthusiastic.

In 2022, NHIA organized the Virtual NHI Card education event in mountainous areas and offshore islands. By training personnel of the township offices, community development associations, schools, culture and health service stations for aborigines, community care spots, and integrated home health care institutions, more people and more medical institutions can better understand and utilize the Virtual NHI Cards.

As of the end of July 2022, over 280 thousand in Taiwan are using the Virtual NHI Cards. By simply scaning the Virtual NHI Card QR code on the phones, users can register at the counter, see a doctor, receive examinations, and fill prescriptions, making medical treatments more convenient.

This year, the NHIA is offering different incentives for the Virtual NHI Card in the fields of home health care and telemedicine, in order to encourage medical institutions to provide the Virtual NHI Card service. The NHIA also hopes that more people can use the Virtual NHI Card on their phones to replace their physical cards, making digital health widespread in aboriginal areas and offshore islands.
