In order to improve the environment for mobile health care in rural areas, and to help dentists provide professional and good quality services, the NHIA has not only budgeted NT$280 million for insufficient medical resources area, but is also actively matching social resources to donate professional dental chairs and related equipment to rural areas. On October 6, the NHIA Southern Division invited Chiayi County Dental Association and corporate representatives to conduct onsite evaluations in Fanlu Township and Dongshi Township, Chiayi County. The NHIA expects that the matchmaking will be successful in utilizing the public-private cooperation to provide better medical care for local residents.

According to statistics of 2021, there are 104 dentists in Chiayi County. Each dentist has to service an average of 4,710 residents. In Fanlu and Dongshi Townships, which belong to sub-medical districts in Chiayi County, there are no dentist clinics. Usually, the dental association would offer one or two outpatient services in the public health office every week. Last year, nearly 200 outpatient services were organized, with 726 local residents undergoing 1656 instances of clinical services.

The NHIA continues to optimize the medical service quality in rural areas, by using designated funds to encourage dentists to offer dental services in rural areas. Through the improvement plan for insufficient dental resource regions, the NHIA offers mobile dental care to improve medical accessibility for residents in rural areas. In recent years, the NHIA has actively matched social resources for dental chairs and related healthcare equipment donation to rural elementary schools, thereby improving quality of dental care for school children.
