Working alongside Taiwan Cooperative Bank, the NHIA is promoting a new way for donations, the NHI Charity Fund for Online Donations, which allows the public to use either the NHIA website or the NHI APP to make an online donation with a credit card.
The NHI Charity Fund began accepting donations online by credit cards on September 28, 2022. As of November 10, 2022, 113 donations by credit cards had been made, totaling more than NT$920,000. Of the total, two sizable donations, NT$200,000 and NT$500,000, from individuals looking to appreciate and support the NHI are worth mentioning. The NHI would like to thank every kindhearted donor to the Charity Fund; every donation will be used with especial care to help those in need.
Dr. Po-Chang Lee, Director General of the NHIA, offered his thanks to Taiwan Cooperative Bank for its assistance in promoting donations by credit card and waiving the handling fees for donation transactions. The bank’s assistance made every last cent of the donations available to the recipients, showing the bank’s response of the "Care for the Disadvantaged" of the NHIA and exhibiting the bank as a model of a corporation giving back to society.
In the 20 years since the establishment of the Charity Fund, public donations have helped more than 39,000 disadvantaged people in urgent need and paid more than NT$200 million in NHI expenses. Many disadvantaged families face difficulties in life, and this was especially true during the pandemic, whether it is NHI premiums or copayments. Because of your loving help, disadvantaged people in financial difficulty can feel the warmth and positive power of charity.
In addition, the NHIA stated that after receiving donations from all areas of the public, the Charity Fund will, on its own accord, send receipts for the public to use for declaring income tax deductions. It also regularly discloses donation information and results of subsidies. The public can read more about the NHI Charity Fund at the NHIA website (https://gov.tw/4ps).
