In May, 2023, National Health Insurance Administration (NHIA) and Tainan City Hall initiated a collaboration program to include around 90% of all 14 medical facilities and 8 mobile healthcare locations in Sigang District of Tainan City in the routes of city buses or shuttle taxis. This collaboration facilitates senior citizens living in remote villages to travel to local healthcare locations with ease.

Sigang District comprises 12 villages with a total of 24,756 residents, of which, about 15% are senior citizens over the age of 65 years. There are 5 Western Medicine clinics, 3 dental clinics, 1 Traditional Chinese Medicine clinic, and 5 pharmacies in Sigang District. However, all of these healthcare resources are found in only two of the villages. In the other ten villages where no medical facilities are found, apart from the two that are in short distance to the abovementioned medical facilities, regular mobile healthcare services are provided by four clinics since 2013. The mobile healthcare service has a 96% satisfaction rate among local residents, indicating its high level of acclaim.

NHIA's mobile healthcare program brings doctors to remote villages. Starting from 2021, NHIA has compiled the data of all local medical facilities, mobile healthcare locations, and their respective number of visitors and initiated an interdisciplinary collaboration with the Bureau of Transportation of Tainan City to include these healthcare locations on the routes of city buses or shuttle taxis. As of May, 2023, 19 (86%) out of the 14 medical facilities and 8 mobile healthcare locations in Sigang District have been included in the routes of both a city bus and a shuttle taxi. The residents are encouraged to use these transportations to make their medical visits more efficient.
