New parents often take unpaid parental leaves for raising children as a way to balance the responsibility of taking care of the child and work. To alleviate the financial burden caused by the reduction in income, a policy has been implemented to extend the payment deadline to three years. The National Health Insurance Administration will send the bill for the premium contribution every month to the insured on unpaid parental leave, but they only have to make the payment within 3 years.
With the NHI / My Health Bank App on your phone, you can verify if there is any unpaid premium by simply going to E-Counter and looking for Unpaid Premium Inquiry under the tab of Personal Inquiries and Settings. In addition, online payments can be made directly on your phone with various payment methods to choose from.
Additionally, the NHI / My Health Bank App allows users to apply for virtual NHI cards, check for the vaccination schedule for their children, set up push notifications for said vaccination schedule, and inquire vaccination records. Parents with newborn children are encouraged to download the App and make use of these functions.
