The NHI Donation Account has recently received two substantial donations. One of these donations was made by a business owner, Ms. Zhan, from Taoyuan City, to express her gratitude for the establishment of the NHI system that safeguards the people’s health and promote business stability. As a firm believer in “taking from society and giving back to society,” Ms. Zhan has contributed NT$200,000 by credit card annually for two consecutive years. She discovered last year that the NHI App enable individuals to make credit card donations to the NHI Donation Account without needing to leave their homes, prompting her to take actions to assist others.

The second donation was made by Ms. Zheng from Taipei City. Ms. Zheng has long been aware of the numerous underprivileged families in need of assistance.. After learning about the NHI Donation Account, established to support individuals from underprivileged backgrounds in paying NHI premiums, she was eagered to make a contribute. Therefore, after discussing the matter with her family, they collectively agreed to donate NT$300,000 to the account in the name of Ms. Zheng’s late mother. She hopes that this donation will also raise awareness and encourage to pay greater attention to underprivileged families in their communities.

The Director General of National Health Insurance Administration (NHIA) Shih Chung-Liang expressed his appreciation to Ms. Zhan and Ms. Cheng for their recognition and support of the NHI, as well as his admiration for everyone who has contributed to the NHI Donation Account. NHIA will allocate the donated funds as intended, ensuring that individuals from underprivileged groups can afford NHI premiums and make medical care when needed.

Director General Shih stated that, to enhance the convenience of charitable work, NHIA has collaborated with Taiwan Cooperative Bank since last September to offer online credit card donation function. In merely one year, a total of 1,200 online credit card donations have been received, amounting a total of NT$5.2 million. NHIA expresses its gratitude to the Taiwan Cooperative Bank for covering the transaction fees associated with these donations, allowing the full donation amounts to be used to assist the families in need. NHIA remains committed to uniting resources from all sectors of society to support underprivileged groups and expand relevant services to safeguard the health of all insured individuals.
