The National Health Insurance Administration (NHIA) has been established for 29 years. In celebration of this anniversary, the NHIA organized the "Digitalized NHI Shining in the Cloud" walk carnival in Taichung Metropolitan Park on March 16, drawing over 5,000 participants. An air horn marked the start of the walk, with Director General Chung-Liang Shih and honored guests from organizations such as the Taichung City Medical Association, Greater Taichung Medical Association, National Union of Chinese Medical Doctors' Association, Taichung Metropolitan Medical Clinic Association, and medical facilities in the central region, all taking part with firm steps in this splendid event.

Director General Chung-Liang Shih said in his remark that the NHI is the most important social security system in Taiwan. Since its implementation on March 1, 1995, the NHI coverage has reached almost 100% and is closely related to the health of all the insured. The NHI program has been in operation for nearly 29 years and is considered the public policy with the highest satisfaction rate in Taiwan. In order to continue upgrading its services, the NHI has been proactively implementing digital transformations like reinforcing digital infrastructures and building the Family Physician Program 2.0, an integrated and personalized primary care information platform. In addition to optimizing health data integration, the launch of the NHI MediCloud 3.0 is expected to improve healthcare quality and patient safety. The NHIA endeavors to realize full digitalization of medical procedures. This includes implementing digital identification, an electronic prescription platform, and electronic payment methods. The digital transformation aims to expand telemedicine and home healthcare programs and create a barrier-free healthcare environment to improve the health of all the insured.

Director General Shih expressed his gratitude towards people's support for the NHI and wished everyone would work together to appreciate and preserve NHI resources. He then thanked all medical personnels for their devotion in safeguarding people's health and their continuous efforts in improving the NHI healthcare quality and providing the best medical services for Taiwan.

The NHIA specified that as the technology advances, the NHI strives to keep up with the time and technological advancements to offer digital NHI services free from the constraints of distance and time; one of the highlights of the convenient NHIA services is that everything can be done online. This event hosted almost 30 stands with different topics. For example, the NHIA set up various stands to introduce the application of renewal or reissuing of the NHI Card via the NHI App, the NHI E-Counter, My Health Bank and Virtual NHI Card, and Call for Cloud Healthcare; other stands include those set up by various medical facilities in the central region, the Taichung City Pharmacists Association, and the Health Bureau of Taichung City focusing on health promotion, disease prevention, and health consultations. People who visited these stands gained better notions on health-related issues and received small and practical gifts from the organizers.
