The National Health Insurance Administration (NHIA) has upgraded "The NHI Family Doctors' Integrated Care Plan( the Family Doctors' Plan)" to "The Family Doctors' Plan 2.0" since 2024, integrating original pay-for-performance programs for diabetes and early chronic kidney disease. This integration allows patients to receive complete healthcare services in one medical facility. Additionally, digital care models have been introduced to collect patient data, facilitating the customization of patient care for medical personnel, and strengthening patients' ability to self-care.

The NHIA stated that the Family Doctors' Plan has been implemented since 2003 based on a patient-centered, family-centered, and neighborhood-focused healthcare concept to enhance healthcare quality. The Family Doctors' Plan 2.0, implemented in 2024, is expected to bring about patient-centered holistic care. The primary focus is on integrating diabetes, early chronic kidney disease, and metabolic syndrome care programs and employing digital tracking management to adequately monitor patients' health conditions. Simultaneously, the doctors of Plan 2.0 will enhance their disease management abilities for diabetes and early chronic kidney disease to improve the quality of healthcare for chronic diseases. This improvement ensures comprehensive care for patients with chronic diseases.

To celebrate the 29th anniversary of the NHI program, the NHIA is organizing a walk carnival event called "A Walk through Tainan's Historic Sites for Enhanced Health and Happiness" in Tainan City on May 18, 2023. Family medicine clinics in the area and their partner hospitals such as National Cheng Kung University Hospital, Chi Mei Medical Center, and Tainan Hospital will be invited to participate. The NHIA will set up games at the event for participants to learn about the continuous and complete high-quality holistic healthcare that family doctors are able to provide. Everyone is welcome to take part in the event.
