To enhance the quality of life and healthcare for cancer patients, the National Health Insurance Administration (NHIA) has implemented the "NHI Chinese Medicine-Integrated Enhanced Care Program for Cancer Patients." Certified Chinese Medicine doctors will tailor treatments to alleviate common discomforts experienced after cancer treatments, such as upset stomach, dizziness, hair loss, and to minimize symptoms arising from the treatment process, such as mouth dryness, mouth ulcers, constipation, diarrhea, and difficulty in opening the mouth. The objective of these Chinese medicine treatments is to complement Western medical treatments for cancer and assist in the restoration of patients' strength, thereby optimizing treatment outcomes. Furthermore, Chinese medicine treatments have shown efficacy in alleviating cancer pain and cachexia symptoms, including weight loss, loss of appetite, and listlessness, particularly in patients with terminal cancer.

The NHIA expresses its gratitude for the efforts made by these Chinese medicine doctors to alleviate discomfort and reinforce immune systems for patients undergoing cancer treatments, ensuring optimized treatment outcomes and holistic care for both physical and mental health. For further details or to request relevant services, Chinese medicine clinics enrolled in this program in your neighborhood can be found via the NHI App by selecting the "Chinese Medicine-Integrated Enhanced Care Program for Cancer Patients" option from the drop-down list of "Enrolled the Program". NHIA is collaborating with Chinese medicine doctors to support cancer patients.
