Tax season has arrived, and the National Health Insurance Administration (NHIA) wishes to remind everyone that when filing their individual income tax returns, the total amount of the NHI premium and supplementary premiums paid in 2023 can be fully deducted. This deduction is not subject to the usual maximum insurance premium.
During the individual income tax declaration period, the public can access the e-Filing and Tax Payment Service provided by the Ministry of Finance. By logging in, individuals can download the details of their 2023 NHI premium and supplementary premium payments via the e-Filing System of Individual Income Tax. This process requires authentication. Additionally, online tax filing can be completed in the same manner without the necessity of providing proof of NHI premium payments separately.
The NHIA has outlined several methods to obtain proof of NHI premium payments for the year 2023:
- Using the NHI App:
Access the NHI App and navigate to E-Counter > Proof of Enrollment > Proof of Payment of NHI Premiums. Request the documents to be sent to a specific email address. - Via the NHIA Website (https://www.nhi.gov.tw):
Visit the NHIA website and go to Online Counter > Online Counter for Underwriting > General Public > Online Services for Individual NHI Data. Log in using either the natural person certificate or the registered NHI card. Download relevant documents by selecting Apply and Print Certificates > Proof of Payment of NHI Premiums (for annual tax declaration) Online Printing. - Using the ibon System at 7-11 Stores:
Log in at the ibon system using the natural person certificate. Proceed to print out the requested documents (a printing fee of NT$2 per page is applied). - Individuals can Bring their ID card for inquiry and document printing at the administrative office of the village, township, city, or district where their insurance is registered, or at an Administration Division or contact office of the NHIA. For those enrolled in the NHI via a company or a craft union (including fishers' or farmers' associations), inquiries should be made to these organizations. For details regarding supplementary premium payments, individuals should contact the unit withholding the supplementary premiums.
For any doubts or questions regarding the aforementioned inquiry channels, please contact the NHIA through the toll-free number 0800-030-598. For mobile phones, please dial (02)4128-678.
