To advance the integration of medical resources and collaboration in remote regions, the National Health Insurance Administration (NHIA), in partnership with Changhua Christian Hospital and Erlin Christian Hospital, held the year-end presentation for the pilot program "Promoting Resource Integration for Care in Remote Areas" on February 12, 2025. Around 200 representatives from health bureaus and medical institutions across Taichung City, Changhua County, and Nantou County gathered to share their achievements and innovative experiences.
During the event, participating medical teams presented their collaboration models and outcomes across key areas, including regional coordination for emergency and critical care, specialist telemedicine support, chronic disease management, and health promotion. For example, Chu Shang Show Chwan Hospital now provides round-the-clock specialty care; Erlin Christian Hospital has established a 24-hour obstetric delivery service; and Nantou Christian Hospital has enhanced its partnership with the Shuili First Aid Station and referral hospitals through a coordinated support network.
The presentation highlighted tangible outcomes from these efforts in remote areas, including streamlined "green referral channels," enhanced telemedicine capabilities, and improved healthcare access for local residents. The NHIA stressed that fostering specialized roles and integrating resources among medical institutions will strengthen this collaboration model, further boosting both the accessibility and quality of care in remote regions
The NHIA announced plans to expand outreach efforts this year, hosting observation events to encourage more medical institutions to join and collectively build a more robust healthcare system for remote areas.
