1.Simplified Request Procedure
To simplify the procedure for requesting a newborn non-photo NHI IC card, the Bureau of National Health Insurance (BNHI) has since January 12, 2006 made available to group insurance applicants (GIA), such as companies, business firms, unions, farmer and fishermen associations, the "multiple certification Internet enrollment platform" to enroll newborns in the NHI system and to request for them a non-photo IC card.
As of August this year (2006) some 25,600 (20% of total newborns) requests for IC cards have been made using this system.
2. Improvement in Service
GIAs that make application for a non-photo newborn IC card via the Internet system can obtain one within three days of submitting the application. This is 3 to 4 days earlier than using the postal system and represents a faster and more convenient service to the public.
3. Internet Application Procedure has Many Advantages--Please Feel Free to Use it!
The BNHI urges every GIA to make maximum use of the Internet application system. Not only is it convenient and fast, the cost of filling out forms and mailing can be saved. At the same time because users must go through an electronic ID recognition and verification process, it is more secure.
In addition, the BNHI is planning for Category VI newborns enrolling at local BNHI offices to also be able to request a non-photo IC card via the local office. Everyone is welcomed to make maximum use of this system when it comes on line.
