The National Health Insurance Administration (NHIA) has partnered with the New Taipei City Dental Association and the Rotary Club of Taipei Banga, District 3481 of Rotary International, to enhance specialized dental care. Through the Rotary International Global Grant donation initiative, they have provided 10 dental chairs and essential medical equipment to welfare organizations serving individuals with disabilities, special education schools, elderly care facilities, and psychiatric hospitals lacking dental services. With a total value of approximately NT$3.25 million, this generous donation is expected to benefit around 2,578 residents and students across recipient institutions.

To further improve dental care for individuals with disabilities, the NHIA introduced the Special Medical Service Plan of Dental Outpatient Global Budget. In 2024, the NHIA allocated approximately NT$280 million to this initiative in the Taipei region, covering outpatient service fees per visit and medical service fees. The program engaged 280 medical institutions, 542 dentists, and 41 medical teams, providing approximately 70,000 dental visits. Notably, the New Taipei City Dental Association contributed 13 medical teams, including 25 facilities and 29 dentists, who collectively delivered 859 outpatient visits and served 5,501 patients. This initiative has significantly improved dental care accessibility for individuals with disabilities.

The NHIA extends its heartfelt appreciation to the New Taipei City Dental Association, Rotary International, and recipient organizations for their collaboration in implementing the Special Medical Service Plan of Dental Outpatient Global Budget and for providing service venues. Given the high demand for specialized dental care in these communities, the NHIA has worked closely with the New Taipei City Dental Association to coordinate outpatient services. Through the combined efforts of private-sector support and the NHIA's commitment, this public-private partnership continues to strengthen dental facilities and improve outpatient services, empowering dentists to provide high-quality care and safeguard the oral health of those with special medical needs.
