The NHIA, in an effort to encourage the public to develop regular walking habits and to promote health awareness as part of the "Healthy Taiwan" initiative, held a health promotion event titled "Healthy Taiwan: Yunlin Residents Give a Thumbs Up" on Saturday, May 3 at 10:30 a.m. at the Huwei Township Multipurpose Activity Center in Yunlin County. The event attracted an enthusiastic turnout of 500 participants, including families.

At the event, NHIA staff formed a lively cheerleading team and joined participants in a group walk, starting from the Health Trail. The walk provided an opportunity for relaxation and exercise, and those who completed the entire route received a customized NHI pancake and a raffle ticket for entry. Additionally, on behalf of the NHIA, Deputy Director-General Dr. Parng Yi-Ming publicly recognized and expressed gratitude to outstanding family physician group clinics, as well as physicians serving in medically underserved areas and correctional facilities, for their dedicated contributions to local healthcare. Certificates of appreciation were presented in acknowledgment of their service.

Deputy Director-General Dr. Parng stated that in 2024, a total of 21 physician groups and 154 clinics in Yunlin County participated in the NHI Family Physician Integrated Care Program. A total of 179 physicians provided care to 155,000 enrolled members, with clinic coverage reaching 54.8%—the highest among the four counties in the Yunlin–Chiayi–Tainan region. Through this event, special thanks were extended to the 20 top-performing family physician clinics in Yunlin that have consistently maintained excellence for two consecutive years, safeguarding public health and delivering high-quality care. Appreciation was also expressed to the mobile physicians and in-facility outpatient doctors who have helped improve access to healthcare for residents in remote areas and individuals in correctional facilities.

One of the highlights of the event was a creative and engaging skit performed by NHIA staff, which vividly illustrated key healthcare topics such as trusted neighborhood physicians, at-home acute care services, and the use of the virtual NHI card. The performance, filled with humor and energy, successfully captured the audience's attention and encouraged active participation in a Q&A session, thereby enhancing public understanding of NHI policies.
