The National Health Insurance Administration (NHIA) continues to provide timely assistance for disadvantaged groups through the "Vulnerable Populations Reporting Platform" and cross-agency collaboration to address unpaid NHI premiums. For example, the New Taipei Branch of the Ministry of Justice's Administrative Enforcement Administration reported a case via the platform, and the NHIA Taipei Division immediately helped the individual apply for the NHI Charity Account to settle the debt, ensuring access to healthcare and protecting patients' rights.
Ms. Cheng, a resident of Xinzhuang District, New Taipei City, has been unemployed for years and relies on cleaning work for income while supporting her elementary school daughter and paying NT$7,000 in monthly rent. Although her family qualifies as a low-to-middle-income household, she remains in financial hardship and cannot afford NHI premiums. On September 15, the NHIA Taipei Division and the New Taipei Enforcement Branch jointly visited her and, through the NHI Charity Account, helped settle her overdue premiums. Ms. Cheng expressed gratitude for the support, saying she deeply appreciated the NHIA's efforts and the warm assistance from various agencies.
The NHIA Taipei Division works with local enforcement branches to support disadvantaged citizens through cross-agency collaboration. When an enforcement branch learns that an individual in hardship is unable to pay NHI premiums, it reports the case via the "Vulnerable Populations Reporting Platform" or by phone or fax. Upon receiving the report, the NHIA immediately activates assistance measures. Moving forward, the NHIA will continue its commitment to protecting vulnerable groups, expanding cooperation channels to provide timely aid for those facing financial difficulties.
The NHIA emphasized that caring for the vulnerable is a core vision of National Health Insurance. Through the NHI Charity Account, donations from all sectors of society are pooled to support disadvantaged families. The NHIA expressed sincere gratitude to all donors and pledged to use every contribution with care, ensuring that compassion continues to flow.
