Illness doesn’t choose a day, and most clinics are closed on Sundays and national holidays. If people experience conditions requiring immediate care, such as fever, stomach discomfort, sprains, or cuts during the holidays, they often have to go to the emergency room of a major hospital. The National Health Insurance Administration(NHIA) has launched the " Urgent Care Centers(UCCs) on Sundays and National Holidays " to make it easier for you to seek medical care during holidays, offering time-saving and affordable minor emergency services.

The NHIA Central Division Office stated that Taichung City launched the " Urgent Care Centers on Sundays and National Holidays " on November 2, 2025. The first two UCCs are located in Tai-An hospital Shuang Shi branch and Jia Jian united clinic. Tai-An Hospital Shuang Shi branch is only 600 meters away from China Medical University Hospital, while Jiajian united clinic, located on Fuke Road, is about 1 kilometer away from Taichung Veterans General Hospital. Both UCCs provide specialized healthcare services, including internal medicine (pediatrics) and external medicine (orthopedics), and are staffed by certified physicians and medical professionals. The UCCs are open from 8:00 AM to 12:00 AM on Sundays and national holidays, offering convenient healthcare options during holidays.

The NHIA pointed out that patients who choose to visit Taichung City’s UCCs on holidays will only need to pay a total of NT$400 (NT$250 of registration fee and NT$150 of co-payment) for each visit, which is NT$650 less than going to an emergency room in a medical center (NT$300 of registration fee and NT$750 of co-payment). At the same time, opting for UCCs helps to prevent overcrowding and prolonged waiting time in emergency rooms.

In addition, these UCCs are equipped with X-ray, ultrasound, and laboratory testing equipment that can help physicians make more accurate diagnoses. In the case where further treatment is required, a “green channel” is available for immediate transfer to nearby medical centers. This system helps divert patients with minor conditions, allowing major hospitals to focus on critical cases and improving the overall efficiency of medical resource utilization.

The NHIA urges the public to prioritize going to UCCs operating on Sundays and national holidays when experiencing sudden symptoms such as a sore throat, diarrhea, or minor injuries during holidays. These centers offer quick consultations with lower fees, making them the optimal choice for medical care on holidays.
