Tzu (alias) is a single parent living in Tainan City, supporting two children while caring of her parents with chronic diseases. Relying on unstable income from odd jobs, the family fell into financial hardship and was unable to pay their National Health Insurance (NHI) premiums. Thanks to the assistance of staff at the local district office, the situation was reported to the NHI Administration (NHIA). The NHIA Southern Division Office helped pay off the family's overdue premiums using funds from the NHI Donation Account and NHI Relief Fund, ensuring their continued right to healthcare. Tzu expressed heartfelt gratitude, noting that with the support of the NHIA and the local district office, her family was able to overcome these difficulties and experience the compassion and warmth of society.
The NHIA Southern Division Office continues working with 77 district and township offices to provide diverse and convenient services, extending care across Yunlin, Chiayi, and Tainan. Through this coordinated support network, local offices help underprivileged households resolve issues with overdue premiums. Furthermore, through the annual "District and Township Office with Excellent NHI Services" evaluation, the NHIA Southern Division Office encourages offices to improve service quality and efficiency.
On March 19, the NHIA Southern Division Office held a recognition event to commend outstanding district and township offices. The Rende and Shanhua District Offices of Tainan City, along with Xingang and Lucao Township Offices of Chiayi County, were the group winners for their excellent overall performance. Additionally, 18 other offices received awards for outstanding achievements in individual categories. The NHIA also expressed sincere appreciation to senior staff who have contributed over 30 years of service, supporting the advancement and innovation of NHI services.
The NHIA stated that, through close collaboration, the district and township offices have been proactively promoting digital services through the NHI App. These efforts include assisting with on-site NHI card issuance, teaching local residents to use "My Health Bank" for health management, and helping identify and report the needs of underprivileged individuals. In 2025, a total of NT$12.01 million from the NHI Donation Account and NT$20.74 million from the NHI Relief Fund were used to pay off overdue premiums for 1,112 households referred by district or township offices and social welfare departments. Looking ahead, the NHIA will continue to collaborate with local offices to integrate resources and deliver more timely and accessible services to those in need.
