Because the Chinese New Year holiday will last for 9 days, the BNHI would like to remind the public that in order to facilitate inquiries regarding the operating hours of contracted medical institutions during the Chinese New Year holiday, the BNHI has requested that contracted medical institutions post their hours on the BNHI website to ensure that people can access to medical care services when needed.For inquiries, please visit the BNHI global website:[Link], and enter the county/city, township/district and address or the name of the medical institution to make an inquiry. (BNHI regional divisions have requested each contracted medical institution to update this information online as soon as possible to facilitate online inquiries during the Chinese New Year holiday.) However, the inquiry information provides only Chinese version.
If people do not have their NHI IC card with them when seeking medical care during the Chinese New Year holiday, they can bring their NHI IC card to the original medical institution within 7 days (excluding holidays) of receiving the medical service to apply for reimbursement for out-of-pocket medical expenses. If they fail to submit NHI IC card required for reimbursement to the original medical institution within 7 days (excluding holidays) because of factors not attributable to them, they can submit the reimbursement application form and related document required, such as the original receipt, to the original medical institution’s local BNHI regional division to apply for reimbursement within 6 months of the day of hospital discharge from emergency or outpatient care.
In addition, for people who need to receive medical care from non-NHI medical institutions for emergent illness or delivery, or who experience unexpected illness or require emergent delivery while traveling overseas and require immediate medical care at local medical institutions, they can submit the following document to their insured unit’s local BNHI regional division to apply for reimbursement within 6 months of receiving the last related medical service:
- The reimbursement application form for out-of-pocket medical expenses;
- The original receipt for medical expenses and details of charges;
- A diagnosis certificate or supporting documents;
- Those who receive medical care overseas need to additionally submit the related certificates of entry and exit records.
