Improving our quality of life and risk awareness are important issues to consider, and it is now common for Taiwanese citizens to take various steps to manage their own health. The National Health Insurance Administration (NHIA) saw this opportunity to launch My Health Bank as a useful tool for self-health management. The NHI indicates that citizens can now apply for My Health Bank at the counter of any NHI regional Division’s service center and NHI liaison office with their Citizen Digital Certificate or download their personal medical information for up to the past two years using their Citizen Digital Certificate from the My Health Bank section of the NHIA's website.
To promote independent health management, the NHIA will be upgrading NHI cards to allow citizens without a Citizen Digital Certificate to still enjoy this convenient service. Once the development is complete at the end of April, citizens will be able to download My Health Bank using their NHI card.
According to the NHIA, citizens can access their medical records (including outpatient visits, the names of inpatient medical institutions, medical care dates, disease classification names, medical treatment names, prescriptions, special materials, NHI points used, deductibles, dental health passbooks, allergy information, insurance, and insurance premium payments, etc.) associated with NHI for the past 1 to 2 years through the My Health Bank section of the NHIA website and save the information in a mobile device (such as a flash drive, mobile phone, or cloud storage) to keep their personal health information close at hand for better self-health management. By promoting My Health Bank, the NHIA ensures that citizens have a tool for self-health management that can help citizens fully understand their health and healthcare medical usage, as well as remind individuals and medical institutions to avoid duplicate medication or tests, making health care more transparent. Simultaneously, the NHIA plans to further include vaccination records and organ donor status in My Health Bank, making My Health Bank a personal electronic health record that citizens can use to fully control their own medical information while realizing the need for self-health management.
People are a company's most important asset. To maximize the benefits of My Health Bank, a convenient way for citizens to access their medical records, the NHIA is currently making a concerted effort to discuss an innovative My Health Bank application with enterprises that will allow enterprises, under their employees' consent, to pass My Health Bank information to the servicing units for health promotion, or further pass the information to health management businesses for health management. Through B2B downloading, a win-win situation is created for both the enterprises and employees.
At the same time, the NHIA is promoting the concept of My Health Bank by holding a "My Health Bank Innovative Applications, Promotions, and Exchange Workshop" on the 28th. Chunghwa Telecom Laboratories Internet of Things Lab, Cathay Healthcare Management, and A Plus Life are invited to attend and speak about B2B data transfer methods and applications, health management topic, and more. Ko-Yang Wang, Executive Vice President of the Institute for Information Industry, is also invited to host the exchange of opinions during the My Health Bank applications and information security workshop. Furthermore, health management related industries such as life insurance companies, health exam centers, hardware and software vendors, and IoT businesses are invited to explore the development of My Health Bank applications. The NHIA will use the consensus reached during the workshop for exchanging perspectives as a reference for future improvements and enhancements for My Health Bank promotion and usage so that My Health Bank can be used for a wider variety of applications. By working together with citizens, the NHIA seeks to achieve self-care for healthier lives.
