A mother cares for her family around the clock with few if any breaks. A time like Mother's Day reminds every mother to care for her own body while caring for the family by applying for and downloading My Health Bank from the official National Health Insurance Administration (NHIA) website to open a "bank account" for her health, understand her medical situation, and manage her own health. Only a healthy body will allow a mother to continuously care for her family.
Each of us might have several bank passbooks so that we have a crystal clear picture of our accounts, knowing the amounts that go in and out — but what about our health? Many of us are often unaware of our current medical status, such as the number of doctor's visits we've made in the past year, which medical departments we've visited, medications taken, exams performed, and so on.
To help everyone gain greater control over their own medical situation, medications, and exams (check-ups), the NHIA used technology to provide an innovative new service, the My Health Bank system, introduced by the NHIA in September 2014. My Health Bank provides citizens an online portal for viewing their own outpatient and inpatient visits, medications, and medical related records. The greatest advantage of My Health Bank is its ease of accessibility while on-the-go. Citizens can show their medical history to doctors to facilitate fast understanding of patient histories, improve communication quality and interaction, reduce repeating prescriptions, and improve healthcare quality.
My Health Bank's passbook includes personal outpatient, inpatient, and allergy information; requests for organ donation and hospice palliative care for the past year; information on dental visits; NHI card status; as well as premium billing and payment records for the past two years. Starting in June this year (2015), new test (check-up) results, image or pathology reports, discharge summaries, and adult preventive medical care information will be available.
"Opening" a My Health Bank "account" is easy. Beginning in mid-May, simply use your Citizen Digital Certificate or NHI IC card to log into the NHIA's online system ([Link]) to search through or download and store My Health Bank into your mobile device (such as a flash drive, mobile phone, or cloud storage service) at any time. Carry your medical information with you wherever you go to have more control over your health. For more details, please contact NHI's toll-free hotline 0800-030-598. The NHIA hopes that all mothers take advantage of My Health Bank as a reminder to arrange healthy activities and be more health conscious — this is the key to a happier, healthier family!
