Want to know what medicines you took? When you received dental cleaning or blood-glucose (lipid) test? As of May 26, 2015, you can use your NHI Card to apply and download “my health bank” on the National Health Insurance Administration (NHIA) website. But, if this is your first time applying for “My Health Bank”, you must obtain a password through the NHI Card Internet Registration Service on the NHIA website before you can use your NHI Card to apply. If you have no Internet access at home, there are over 100 places in 72 hospitals nationwide for you to visit where you can apply and download “My Health Bank” that allows you to easily handle any matters related to your health!
In the past, a written application form must be submitted along with a fee of at least NT$300 to access your medical records from the NHIA and you had to wait three working days before you can get them. Since September 25, 2014, the NHIA has established “My Health Bank” system on its website. Just need an Internet connection, people can access their medical records anywhere and anytime free-of-charge simply by clicking on the “My Health Bank” link on the NHIA website, following the instructions on the webpage and logging in the system with the “Citizen Digital Certificate”. You can enquire or download your recent medical records, such as your inpatient and outpatient records for the most recent year, your dental records for the past two years, information on your allergies and other medical information relating to willingness for organ donations or hospice palliative care as well as preventive vaccinations. With those kinds of information on hand, you can not only manage your own health, but also enhance the medical safety and effectiveness by proving them to the doctor during your doctor consultation. As of May 26, 2015, you can apply for My Health Bank by using your NHI Card as identification once you have registered and got a password.
According to the NHIA’s statistics, by June 2015, 47,000 people have logged onto the My Health Bank system; almost 20,000 people have applied for it; and approximately 30,000 people have downloaded information off the system (once you request for your medical records, these records will be kept on the website for 7 days; you can download them repeatedly within the 7 days whenever you need them). In the future, the NHIA will continue to beef up the content of My Health Bank system and incorporate more information such as test (examination) results, discharge records and My Health Bank for Traditional Chinese Medicine.
