The National Health Insurance Administration announces today that the average number of dependents under Items 1 to 3 of Category 1 for the National Health Insurance has been reduced to 0.61, down from 0.62, effective January 1, 2016.

The National Health Insurance Administration (NHIA) has expressed that Article 29 of the National Health Insurance Act stipulates that the registration organization that the insured belongs to or the number of dependents that the government shall afford under Items 1 to 3 of Category 1 shall be calculated in accordance with the actual number of dependents of the insured under Items 1 to 3 of Category 1. Based on the latest statistics, the NHIA has announced that the average number of dependents will be reduced to 0.61, effective January 1, 2016. Once enforced, it is expected that the new policy will help save more than NTD 800 million for employers.
