To ensure that all insured citizens of Taiwan receive adequate healthcare, the National Health Insurance Administration (NHIA) has been making concerted efforts to implement the objectives of "refining NHI medical resource allocation" and "localizing rural region and offshore island medical care" advocated by the Executive Yuan and Ministry of Health and Welfare. The total amount of NHI expenditure for 2019 in the offshore Kinmen area amounted to NT$1.32 billion, including NT$1.25 billion for inpatient/outpatient care offered by healthcare facilities in the Kinmen area, NT$40 million for the IDS program carried out in Kinmen and Wuqiu, and NT$30 million for other NHI programs. Collaboration between the private and public sectors and input from the private sector have been actively sought. Through the NHIA's matchmaking activity, the Rotary Club of Taoyuan Fountain donated a highly functional mobile clinic vehicle. Kinmen Hospital under the Ministry of Health and Welfare held a donation ceremony today (13th) for its newly received mobile clinic. Director-General of the NHIA Po-Chang Lee was invited to present certificates of appreciation to the representatives of Rotary International. This collaboration demonstrates the joint effort made to ensure the health of citizens living on offshore islands.
Director-General Po-Chang Lee expressed appreciation during the ceremony for Rotary International, the organizer Rotary Club of Taoyuan Fountain, and other public and private entities, including medical associations, for their generosity and commitment. The concerted efforts enable Kinmen County to enhance its mobile healthcare capabilities and provide citizens with quality, continuous, and comprehensive healthcare.
