Despite the influences brought by the COVID-19 pandemic this year, Taiwan still remains close ties with New Southbound countries. To demonstrate how Taiwan uses technologies in the prevention and control of the pandemic, the NHIA also takes part in ‘2021 Taiwan Expo’, which is held by Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA), and presents Taiwan’s performances in medical and healthcare services in online ‘Taiwan Healthcare Pavilion’. The exposition will be held from July 15 to August 23.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, the NHIA works in collaboration with CECC and uses Virtual Private Network (VPN) and NHI MediCloud system to provide medical institutions with patients’ TOCC (Travel history, Occupation, Contact history, Cluster), which is a measure aimed at preventing and controlling the pandemic. The NHIA also works with the government to develop the Name-based mask distribution system, in which NHI cards are required to purchase masks in pharmacies, health centers and convenience stores.
In response to the changes of the COVID-19 pandemic in May, 2021, the inquiry function of ‘COVID-19 PCR test result’ was added in the NHI APP on May 6, which offers quick access to test results. On June 29, ‘COVID-19 rapid antigen test’ was also added. On July 9, the ‘COVID-19 PCR test result’ and ‘vaccination’ within the NHI APP were integrated, which was presented as ‘COVID-19 Vaccines/Testing result’ in chronological order. The added functions are aimed at allowing people to manage health conditions on their own.
‘2021 Taiwan Expo in Vietnam’ will be followed by online Taiwan expos in Malaysia, Thailand, India and Indonesia. The NHIA will then demonstrate how Taiwan uses technologies in the prevention and control of the pandemic and present Taiwan’s performances in medical and healthcare services.
