Many foreign spouses want to know more about how to enroll in National Health Insurance (NHI). However, oftentimes they have difficulty consulting the staff at the National Health Insurance Administration (NHIA) because they are not familiar with Mandarin. Although the staff endeavor to explain to the foreign spouses in detail, the staff do not know if they understand. The idea to offer considerate services for " Consultation in Your Native Tongue" was hence inspired. The Southern Division of the NHIA has specially commissioned foreign students of National Cheng Kung University to make videos for these services. In the future, if Taiwanese citizens whose spouses are from Indonesia or Vietnam receive their spouses' "Notice of NHI Unenrollment," they will be able to scan the QR code on the notices, and their foreign spouses will be able to listen to the instructions for completing NHI enrollment procedures in their native tongues, thus guaranteeing the foreign spouses' rights in medical care.
