According to Chinese medical doctors, cancer patients can be very uncomfortable after going through surgeries, chemical and radiation therapies. In most cases, patients can mitigate their discomfort following cancer treatment by using Chinese medicine and medications.
The NHIA has launched a program called ‘Intensified Integrated Care for Cancer Patients Using Chinese Medicine’. The program targets inpatients who are now receiving cancer treatment, those who have serious side effects after receiving cancer treatment, or those having breast cancer, liver cancer, lung cancer or colorectal cancer. With assisted Chinese medicine treatment such as acupuncture, Chinese medication or diet, patients are able to receive holistic health care. Currently, 367 medical institutions nationwide have participated in the program, and there are a total of 14,604 patients benefiting from this program from 2020 to June, 2021.
