On Nov 11, 2021, NHIA's video 'The NHI System that Benefits Generations' won the silver award for ‘2021 PwC’s Sustainability Impact Awards’. The video presents how NHI uses health technology to contain the pandemic, solves social issues and resonates with UN Sustainable Development Goals. With this award, NHI is recognized internationally for its efforts during the pandemic and its contributions towards protecting people's health.
The video presents the healthcare technology used during the COVID-19 pandemic: NHIA implements the TOCC (Travel history, occupation, contact history, cluster) system in NHI MediCloud System, thus making the testing process faster and reducing the risk of infection within the hospitals and communities; when the need for masks exceeds supply in the beginning of the pandemic, the NHIA implements Name-based Mask Distribution System to distribute masks in a fair way; ‘telemedicine’ and ‘virtual cards’ will help to avoid clustering when people seek medical attention, and ‘COVID-19 vaccination records and PCR test results’ can be found in the 'NHI My Health Bank APP’.
According to Po-Chang Lee, Director General of NHIA, Taiwan leverages digital technology to make preemptive preparation to respond the pandemic, and safeguard people of all ages. NHIA will continue to offer quality healthcare to people in Taiwan, cooperate with the medical field, and utilize medical resources to ensure the sustainability of NHI.
