NHI enrollees who cannot return to Taiwan because of COVID-19 may claim portions of their medical expenses occurred abroad for their emergent medical needs by a delegate. If NHI enrollees are abroad and they have an unexpected and emergent injury, disease, or child delivery, they may claim some medical expenses in six months from the day they received emergency care or outpatient care, or the day being discharged from a hospital. If they have not returned to Taiwan yet, they may delegate someone to file a claim with a letter of authorization and the ID of their representative.
