The Pharmaceutical Benefit and Reimbursement Scheme Joint Committee (PBRS) convened by the NHIA agreed to list more new medications in the NHI formulary including community-acquired pneumonia, active psoriatic arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, hemophilia, Parkinson's disease, and epilepsy.

With the efforts of the medical community, consumer representatives and patient groups, numerous medications are added in the NHI benefits package. It is estimated that over 3,000 to 20,000 patients will use these medications annually over five years. The rules of prescribing and reimbursing these medicines will be relaxed and effective from February 1, 2022.
