During the pandemic, the NHIA encourages video consultations in order to heighten the access to health care. People who need an outpatient service may use a video consultation as the zero-contact healthcare, lowering the risks of infection and ensuring people’s right to health care.

There are 425 western medicine clinics and 216 Chinese medicine clinics providing video consultations across Taoyuan, Hsinchu, and Miaoli. As of 2021, there were over 17,000 times for video consultations, accounting for 15.9% of the total video consultations in clinics nationwide. Video consultations have been well received by the public.

Video consultations not only make health care possible, but prevent patients and family members from unnecessary contacts. Video consultations also help family doctors regularly provide health care to their patients, without leaving them behind.
