Since 2016, the NHIA has promoted the Integrated Home Health Care Program, providing medical services for the disabled people and patients with difficulties to go out for medical care. A total of 226 care teams and 1,618 medical institutions currently participate in this program, providing home health care for approximately 95,000 patients.
COVID-19 has changed everyone's way of life, especially for people with limited mobility who have difficulties to go out for medical care. Now, they can choose home health care to receive health care in a familiar environment while family accompanying. Also, the risk of infection is reduced because they need not leave home for medical care. In addition to the home medical services they need, they can also receive vaccinations and information on epidemic prevention at home. Moreover, in order to implement referral system and reduce the risk of infection during hospital visits, follow-ups after hospital discharge will be transferred to clinics. Through the cooperation between hospitals and clinics, the referral system is built up, improving the healthcare network towards the goal of healthcare localization.
The NHIA urges NHI enrollees those have needs to visit the NHIA's website for home health care information. They may also call the long-term care service hotline 1966 for nationwide or contact the local long-term care center. Long-term care specialists will evaluate each case and allocate care resources accordingly.
