In 2016, the NHIA established its official LINE account, which integrated cross-platform NHI digital services, including its official website, the NHI APP, smart customer service, and Facebook. Through this platform, information on critical NHI policies, activities, and services is provided to the public. As of January 12th, 2022, the official NHIA LINE account have been comprehensively upgraded. Since this upgrade, people can use LINE to schedule appointments with medical institutions or make inquiries about prescribed medicines and the price of medical devices.
The new functions of the official NHIA LINE account are detailed as follows:
[Making appointments]
People are able to access information such as the phone numbers, addresses, and examination and treatment departments of local medical institutions and directly schedule appointments by phone or Internet. As the official NHIA LINE account has integrated the functions of searching for medical institutions and making appointments, appointments can be made on LINE. To date, 284 and 21,631 medical institutions respectively support online and telephone appointment services.
[Survey on the use of and willingness to share NHI data]
The questionnaire can be completed directly on the official NHIA LINE account. Those who have not filled out the questionnaire in the NHI APP may express their opinions via LINE. The NHIA will use the survey results as references concerning the right to autonomy for secondary use of NHI data. The results will also serve references as for policies on the subsequent external use of NHI data.
[Inquiry on drug and medical device prices]
The NHIA LINE account also supports inquiries on the appearance and indications of medications so as to increase medication safety. Also, as for the medical devices that fully NHI-covered, partially NHI-covered and fully self-paid, users can also quickly find out the price paid by the NHI and the difference paid by a patient.
