The NHIA and Mackay Memorial Hospital visited Qalang Smangus in Jianshi Township, Hsinchu County on April 9th to preside over the event "2022 Telemedicine: Health Care is Never Far Away" in order to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the Jianshi Township Integrated Delivery System (IDS). The NHIA has commissioned Mackay Memorial Hospital to operate the Jianshi IDS back in 2001. Since then, Mackay has provided 24-hour medical care to so-called rear mountain area Yufeng Village and Xiuluan Village of Jianshi Township. Mackay Hospital also provides emergency care, mobile health care, and emergency aid training, reducing the gaps of the medical care between the rural and urban areas.
The NHIA started telemedicine since 2021. Mackay Memorial Hospital, cooperating with the National Taiwan University Hospital HsinChu Branch and China Medical University Hsinchu Hospital, has provided Jianshi Township with telemedicine for ophthalmologic, otorhinolaryngological, and dermatologic care. Medical specialists can inspect the patient's medical issues and give professional advice and precise diagnoses by videos and images, greatly improving medical efficiency.
The NHIA will continue to provide more health care to residents at indigenous villages, and work with Mackay Memorial Hospital to support the people of Jianshi Township.
