If people have medical needs during home quarantine, they may use their virtual NHI card for video consultations. Aside from video consultations, doctors may also use the MediCloud to check patient’s medication and test records of patients to understand their medical history and write prescriptions.
The Virtual NHI card system was revised on April 19, adding the mechanism of uploading identification documents and backstage reviews to ensure personal information security. People may apply for the card at the desks in person (project application) or online in the system (general application).
For those who choose to apply in person, the NHIA will provide a set of review verification code, and the applicant may complete the application after entering the code. For those who choose general application must wait for 3 business days, and the Virtual NHI card will appear in the system after the review process is completed. If the review is still in process, the system will show “reviewing”; if the application was rejected, the system will show the “reasons for rejection”, and people may re-apply after reviewing the reasons for rejection.
With a Virtual NHI card, people may present the QR code on their cellphones for an in-person medical visit to complete the registration for admission, medical treatments, and tests and exams. They may also use their Virtual NHI card for video consultations, making their visit zero-contacted and reducing the risk of being infected while getting medical treatment.
